What we know, and what we do with it.

The short version is that we collect what a booking needs, we use analytics to make the site better, and nobody is selling anything to anyone. Last updated August 2026.

What we collect, and why

Bookings.

• When you book (or send a booking request) at checkout we collect your name, email, phone, guest count, dates, occasion, and any notes you write. This goes into our reservation system (Guesty) and a private team channel (Slack) so we can confirm your dates, send check-in details, and reply to questions.
• After booking we ask the primary guest for a government-issued ID to verify the reservation. It is used for that and kept with the booking record.
• Card details are entered into a secure payment form provided by our reservation system (Guesty) and go directly to the payment processor. They never touch our servers, and we never see your card number. The balance charge 60 days before arrival is run by the processor against the same card.

Email.

• Anything you email to hello@staymarais.com stays in our mailbox so we can answer and keep a record of the conversation.

Analytics.

• We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, buttons clicked, which homes and dates get looked at, and session replays in which everything you type is masked before it leaves your browser. These services also help us measure where visitors come from, including from any advertising we run.

At the home.

• Each home has exterior security cameras at the front and back doors (and covering the pool area where there is one). There are no cameras inside. Per City of New Orleans regulations, each home also has a noise monitoring device that measures decibel levels, occupancy, and cigarette smoke; it does not record sounds or conversations. Footage and readings are kept only as long as needed for security and for the house rules, and are shared only with law enforcement on request.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not share your data with third parties for their own marketing.
• We do not store your card details; they go straight to the payment processor.

Retention and your rights

Booking records live in our reservation system for as long as we need them for bookkeeping, tax, and legal obligations. Analytics data is retained per Google's and PostHog's standard retention.
